How do I clad a SIP’s build?
A SIP’s building can be clad in a number of ways, much the same as a Traditional build. A simple brick or decorative stone skin with a ventilated cavity is a popular option, as is a Timber clad finish or render on carrier boards secured to the structure by Battens. The important rule is that there must be a ventilated cavity between the external cladding and the SIP’s panel. and that the SIP’s panel is wrapped with a breather membrane such as Nilvent which is usually included as part of the package.
What is the best roof finish?
A SIP’s roof is a popular option for Self Build Projects, primarily due to the ease in which a habitable roof space can be formed as no additional insulation is nessecary within the roof structure. Preffered cladding options are tiling or slates on Battens, or alternatively profiled metal sheeting on battens, it is important to remember that all roof cladding options should be supported by 38mm x 50mm vertical treated counter battens.
Can SIP’s be used for extensions?
Yes, K-Panels have completed a range of extension projects, from single story additional room projects to extensions which have a number of stories and incorporate a complete re-roofing project to form habitable roof space. If you would like a SIP’s extension, please note that this may involve an assesment of your existing structure to establish suitability for a SIP’s extension.
How long does it take to build a SIP’s house?
Amazingly, we have built a 4 bedroom barn conversion style property in as little as 10 days, this is based on a team of only 4 TEK installers as SIP’s builds require a great deal less labour and wet trades to reach completion.
